So. Every December for the past few years, I have had an art show at one of the most delectable spots in Seattle: Trophy Cupcakes.
But this year, the show is extra-special, because it includes several original pages of spot illustrations from my book, CakeSpy Presents Sweet Treats for a Sugar-Filled Life.
When you look at the book, almost every single page has a cute illustration to accompany the recipes and my witty repartee. For instance, the illustration at the top of this post, or this page in the book:
But it may interest you to know that when I was creating the illustrations for the book, basically what I did was create a large "art library" from which the art director and designer, Anna, could pick and choose spot illustrations.
So I handed in sheets covered with cuteness, such as these:
Each page of images was cut up into "spot" pieces for various pages of the book (go ahead and see which ones you can find!).
The originals are now framed, some 9x12 inches, some 12x16 inches, and for sale at Trophy Cupcakes. The price range is between $175 and $250 per piece, and each piece comes with a free copy of the book as well as a tag saying which pages you can find the illustrations on in the finished book!
The art will be up all month, but I will be at Trophy Cupcakes in Wallingford tonight, from 6-9pm, to meet-and-greet and sign books. So come out! For more details, visit the Trophy Cupcakes facebook event page!
